View as we're heading up
Above the clouds looking down at Maui
Super happy when we entered the park after an hour drive, not so happy to learn is was another 30 miles to the Summit. Took almost an hour to drive up from this point due to the curvy roads.
The Summit(tippy top)

It was freezing and windy at the summit. It was in the 80's at our resort and it was 56 degrees at the top of the volcano. Yes, I forgot a jacket so I wrapped beach towel around me. A few of us felt very light headed from the altitude. I found it difficult to take a deep breath. The kids didn't seem bothered by it.

From the Summit we could see the Big Island(Hawaii) in the distance. You can see 4 of the 5 Big Island volcanos.
Miss Molly had a little tantrum about only wearing one shoe as we left the visitors center. She was determined not to wear the other. Grandma got a shot of Little Miss in all her glory and with only one shoe on!
Took us 2 hrs. and 30 min on the drive back to the resort. We were ready to relax, and the boys were ready to play golf.
