Disney World Day 3

Disney Hollywood Studios

January 17, 2011

Jeremy had early meetings for his work conference, so he left the room at 7am. I woke up around 8am to thunder. I had really hoped the weather forecast was wrong, but no, the rain was coming. I hurried and woke the girls up so we could get ready and get over to the park before the rain hit. NOPE! In 20 minutes the rain came, and HOLY COW!!! It was torrential! POURED!!!! We watched the Weather Channel. It looked like we'd get a small break around 10:30am. So we watched and waited. The rain was lighter around 10:30, we were ready with towels, standing under the covered porch by our room. Mya, and Molly were in their strollers covered with Towels. We RAN!!!! Our feet, and jeans were soaked as we had to run in standing water across the street. It was crazy!!!! I wasn't sure how this day would play out. Rain and Cold! We were willing to try! Got the strollers folded and got on the bus!

On the 10 minute bus ride to the park, it had started pouring again. We got off the bus, ran to the entrance, and once inside, I bought ponchos for us. Yes, would have been smart to bring cheap ones with us. Oh well, these Disney ones were cute. I regret not getting a picture of us in our ponchos. It was classic!

Here is the back of the cute ponchos. We had the BEST time at Hollywood Studios. Slow season, and Rain, make for an awesome day! There were no waits for anything. In fact, it was so slow, the Fast Pass booths weren't even on that day. you didn't need them. NICE! We first saw Voyage of the Little Mermaid! It's great! We went into Animation Studios, where most of the Characters are. So many Characters, no lines!!! Loved it! Each character spent so much time with the girls! It was FANTASTIC! Get ready for picture overload! If you don't see Molly in the picture....she didn't like the character. In fact, she was in tears about Lotso the Bear. I don't blame her, he was mean in the movie. Mickey was up first. Mya was asleep, but I just had to have her in the picture. When you're with Lotso you smell strawberries scent. If you remember in Toy Story 3, it's said Lotso smells like strawberries. Those creative Disney folks pumping in the strawberry smell around Lotso. They think of everything!!! Loved it! Since Mya was awake, thought we'd get more pictures with Mickey! Shows! My FAVORITE moment of this day: We were standing looking at the Tangled movie items, when out of nowhere appeared Minnie Mouse. She walked right by us, grabbed Molly's hand, and kept walking. Molly was stunned, but held on to her hand, and kept walking. She then gave Molly a big hug, and Molly was just so excited. She LOVES Minnie Mouse. It was just a perfect moment!

The only bad thing about the rain is that the 3pm Disney Pixar Parade was cancelled. We had really wanted to see this. Jeremy met us at the park around 5pm. It was Extra Hours night at the park, so we had waited to do rides with him that evening.

Toy Story Mania is such a fun ride. The images are in 3D and you shoot balls at Toy Story 3 characters and get points. This was the only ride we had to wait in line for. The wait is fun. The entire wait area is a huge playroom of old children's games. It's so cute.

The American Idol Experience is not cheesy, like I thought it might be! The stage looks just like the show. They hold tryouts in the morning. Then they have 4 shows where contestants sing and you get to vote. The top 4 contestants from the day perform in the Finale show that evening. We went to the Finale show. It was so much fun. The 4 contestants were actually all really great singers. There are 3 judges who act like Randy, Paula, and Simon. They were very funny! You have your voting pad at your seat and get to vote for the winner. I can't remember the girl's name who won, but she gets to try out for Randy, Jennifer, and Steven next season.

The girl in the white striped shirt won. Our favorite was the girl in the black outfit. She is a mom of four from Tenessee. She was a country girl, and sang great!

There are so many things to do at Hollywood Studios. We didn't see the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Lights Camera Action Extreme Stunt Show, and Fantasmic (a favorite.) We had done those in the past, and the kids were Ok not seeing them this time. It's nice when you don't have to race around the park trying to do everything.

No we didn't buy this, but can you believe the price of that treat!! CRAZY!

Jer and Kenzie rode a few more rides: Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster

Called it a night around 10pm. Another Magical day!!!

PS to Kody and Kyle.....Disney World has the Jedi Training too!
